Tchaikovsky - Symphony No.2

Zoltán Kodály's Dances of Galánta is inspired by the folk music of the Galánta region (now in modern Slovakia, but a part of Hungary until 1918), where Kodály spent part of his childhood. It features lively rhythms and expressive melodies, reflecting the traditional Hungarian style and the influence of Gypsy music.
Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez is a cornerstone of the classical guitar repertoire. THe concerto is known for its elegant and evocative character. Its second movement, with its hauntingly beautiful melody, is particularly renowned.
The solo guitar part will be performed by Vladimir Gorbach, one of Australia's most prominent classical guitarists. Originally from Russia, Gorbach now heads up the guitar department at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as well as maintaining a busy schedule of Australian and international recitals and recordings.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2 is a joyful work that was immediately successful when premiered. It incorporates Ukrainian folk melodies into its structure, and combines Tchaikovsky’s mastery of orchestration with the charm and energy of traditional tunes, creating a vibrant and dynamic work.
