Voices in the Tradition
About
An afternoon of singers - 1pm doors open for 2pm startMargaret & Bob Fagan, Margaret Walters & Penny Boys
Four of Australia's most respected folk musicians - Bob & Margaret favourites at festivals in Australia, UK & Ireland - long history as duo and family band, The Fagans. Music from the Anglo-Irish-Australian tradition; draws on songs of social & environmental justice, haunting traditional ballads, and contemporary stories.
Margaret Walters - active for many years, singing folk songs, ballads, sea shanties, songs for peace, social justice, and songs about workers, and environment. She is passionate for people to sing along, agreeing with Pete Seeger who said:” Participation - That’s what’s going to save the human race”. Margaret’s love of harmony has seen her performing regularly with the best in the country.
Penny Boys, accompanied by Andrew Heath, was part of the band The Poachers; renowned for a traditional style - and a weakness for sad songs with a high body count!
