Kabuto (Samurai helmet) frame - Japanese paper cord knots

About
In this hands-on fun class, we will make Japanese knots using traditional paper cords which are called "Mizuhiki", then finish as Samurai Helmet "Kabuto" frame.Historically May 5th was celebrated as Tango no Sekku, primarily a festival for boys, wishing them health, strength, and future success. Families display Kabuto, traditional samurai helmet, hoping their sons will grow up to be strong and brave.
The core of the Mizuhiki cord is twisted paper and then dyed or wrapped with coloured thread, then knotted into shapes. Simple twisted white paper cords were used for tying Samurais’ and Sumo wrestlers’ top knots!
We will start with Awabi knot with 1 cord, then 3 cords, and 4 cords. You can choose the colour of the cords from a selection of colours on the day.
A frame is included but name print on the base paper is optional. Please pay $5 on the day if you would like name printed.
*Please note that the venue has 60m long walk way from the street entrance and there are stairs.
