About
Portrait Painting is a long standing and highly respected art practice, profession and past time. It is more than the study of an object. It is aglimpse into the psychology of the sitter, the artist, and the era. Before you can approach these issues, it is essential to master the basics. That is what this class will cover. Students will learn a process for drawing designed for painting. Learn how to prioritise what matters, how to sequence their process, and how to develop their painting as a whole. Key issues explained and explored will include composition, shape and construction, light and shadow, value and colour, planes vs modeling, and edges.
All levels of experience welcome.
Classes: Mondays from 7:00pm to 9:30pm starting Monday, 12 May 2025 - 7 weeks Cost: $305.00
Classes include a live model and one on one instruction. Paints will be provided; materials list will be emailed to all students
This class is externally facilitated and no CGS staff will be in attendance.
