Come on an extensive walk through the lush multi-species pastures at Oxhill Organics in Wauchope NSW, and join the discussion around how simple, affordable techniques can have profound benefits to soil and productivity.

This event continues the series of NSW coastal multi-species forum events. Past participants and newcomers are most welcome.

We will be exploring themes around 'how long can you carry summer-dominant pasture or crops on the Mid-North Coast of NSW'. Oxhill Organics provides an astonishing example of the smart use of multi species to eliminate any autumn feed gap.

Chris Eggert of Oxhill Organics and Lee Fieldhouse of Island Biologicals will lead the discussion, enabling an understanding of what you see and also the sharing of wisdom and experience held by all attendees (how often is one of the most valuable parts of a field day the chat you had with the person next to you at lunch!?)

Outline of the day

8:30 am: Cuppa and sign on

9 am: Introduction and morning tea

9:30 am: Extensive paddock walk looking at:

• summer and winter combined plantings
• planting into existing pasture

1 pm: Lunch

2 pm: Short paddock walk looking at:

• Flexible planting methods

4 pm: Close

Food

Morning tea and lunch are fully catered. Lunch will be a delicious local produce fare consisting of meat and salads. Lunch will be catered by Yeo Farm Catering.

Paddock Walk

This is a day of walking through the wild pastures of Oxhill Organics. not down the laneways. Terrain may be uneven. Please ensure you are physically capable, bring some water and wear suitable clothing. Audio equipment will be used to ensure everyone can hear the discussion in the field.

This event is forum-style, so we invite you into the conversation. We value peer to peer learning, and acknowledge that there is a great deal of innovation and experience in the crowd that we can all learn from. The fresh questions of novices are also highly valuable!
