ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SERIES
This is a private class for staff at Mona Vale Hospital ONLY. Do not book in if you have not been sent this link and invited to do so. Thank you
This online workshop series for allied health professionals provides the essential introductory core skills and knowledge for providing effective behaviour change counselling in the form of Motivational Interviewing. Applications featured in this course are consistent with typical chronic lifestyle related illnesses and mental health presentations. The course does not cover MI applications in corrections, family violence settings or business coaching.
This course typically runs in 2 x 2 part-day Blocks. We will be covering 'Block 1' only on May 29th - 30th 9am - 1.30pm AEST.
During days 1 & 2 (Block 1) we will be completing an overview of the MI basics to get you started. Participants will leave with key MI skills they have observed and practised and preparation for experimenting with these skills in their real world practice.
This course is a starting point and aims to leave attendees feeling ready and excited to start playing with MI in their practice or taking their existing MI skills up a notch. Fluency in MI will require ongoing deliberate practice, skills support & feedback and extension workshops. Don't let that deter you! Just starting to head in an MI direction can have some real benefits for you and your clients.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING
It is a requirement of registration that attendees are able to fully commit to attending both two part-day workshops. The sessions are not recorded for confidentiality reasons. You are respectfully asked to cancel all work commitments during the course and to delegate any 'on call' duties - just as you would when attending an 'in person' training. Coming in and out of the training to attend to work or family commitments is not permitted. Attendees are asked to ensure they have access to a secure and stable internet connection and a private space for their workshop attendance. It can be problematic (feedback issues) sharing a room or login with another participant. A webcam is essential and attendees are asked to attend with their webcam on for the entire workshop. Attendees are required to print a workbook for each block (supplied in PDF format) totalling approx 40 pages of double sided printing. You can use a write on device if you prefer. Please do not register if for any reason you are not able to agree to these terms.
PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL RECEIVE VITAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THE WORKSHOP TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS YOU USE WHEN YOU REGISTER. PLEASE BE SURE TO REGISTER WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS YOU ACCESS REGULARLY THAT CAN ALSO RECEIVE ATTACHMENTS. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOU SPELL THE EMAIL ADDRESS ACCURATELY WHEN REGISTERING. THANKS!
