This concert presents an evocative blend of contemporary voices and powerful musical storytelling. Up and coming American composer Katahj Copley’s ‘In Living Colour’ offers a vibrant exploration of identity through rich harmonies and rhythmic intensity. Daniel Basford’s ‘Four Rosetti Songs’ follows, with poignant settings of poems that celebrate the beauty and complexity of life and feature our talented vocalist Chloe Bruer-Jones. Ukrainian-Australian Catherine Likhuta’s ‘Bury and Rise’ captures the emotional journey of growth and renewal of the Ukranian struggle for independance, while David Maslanka’s ‘Symphony No. 4’ closes the afternoon with a sweeping and meditative work that explores themes of spirituality and human connection.
