Boobooks Meeting 1071

About
Speaker: Bruce Clayton
Topic: The Conservation of Public Art.
Who is responsible for those objects in the park called sculptures? Who fixes the environmental and vandal damage? How does the sculpture/artwork end up there in the first place? Many of the public works will be familiar as you move around this city, and the public may not consider how those works are maintained and some of the history of how they came to be erected.
Bruce Clayton was a Lecturer and technician in Sculpture at the Victorian College of the Arts. He has been a maker and collaborator with Australian and American artists on major commissions and large sculpture. He studied at the Prahran College of Advanced Education and the New York Studio School, and has a Masters of Fine Art from Parsons School of Design in New York. He worked in New York for ten years. In Melbourne he conducted a Restoration Workshop business from 1996-2019. Bruce will draw on over forty years’ experience as a sculptor in applying his expertise in repairing and restoring public works around Melbourne and beyond.
