Kanyana New Volunteer Orientation Training (Day 1)

ALL new volunteers at Kanyana are required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation (Day 1) training.
Sessions run from 10am to 3pm.
On the day you will be given essential information on Kanyana's key people and teams, policies and guidelines, occupational health and safety, fire safety, and tour of Kanyana's buildings and facilities. This day also includes It also includes all formalities (such as completion of paperwork, issuing of Kanyana uniforms, payment member fees).
Vaccinations
- An up-to-date Tetanus vaccination is highly recommended for ALL volunteers.

- Please provide ALL the information requested.
ON THE DAY: Please ensure you BYO lunch as lunch is not provided.
PARKING: Please park near the Administration hall and ensure you reverse park your vehicle.

The Hospital operates 365 days a year, with 3 daily shifts
- 80% of our patients are birds
- 10% of our patients are reptiles
- 10% of our patients are mammals
All Volunteers must:
- attend a New Volunteer Orientation Training day: 6 hours: $10 training fee, this is non refundable if you do not show up or cancel within 48hrs. Please remember we have trainers on site expecting you!
- become a Kanyana Member: $35, payable on July 1, each financial year; *reduced if joining May-June
- become a DBCA volunteer: No additional cost
- purchase a Kanyana shirt: $30
TOTAL INITIAL COST: $75.00*, payable on the day
DAY 2 TRAINING SESSIONS (SAVE THE DATE)
For those new volunteers joining the Education, Rehabilitation or Resident teams, there is a requirement to complete a second training session. You MUST register for this session and will be provided registration details on completion of your New Volunteer Orientation (Day 1) training.
Day 2 training session dates will be provided as part of your NVO Day 1 attendance:

New Rehabilitation and Resident Volunteer (Day 2) training sessions run from 8am–12:30pm.

New Education Volunteer (Day 2) training sessions will be run (9am-2pm).
