In celebration of NAIDOC Week 2025 Noosa First Nations Allies will present a screening of the Australian movie "High Ground". A 2020 Australian film directed by Stephen Maxwell based on historical events that took place in Amhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia, set just after World War 1. It has variously been called a revisionist Western. However, it tells of a true historical event in a fictionalised manner but with very close attention to and respect for Aboriginal culture.Noosa First Nations Allies is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organisation working to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Noosa region and beyond in achieving human rights and self-determination, respect for sovereignty and support healthy Country, communities and culture. Our values are truth-telling, listening to understand and healing.
Tickets are $15. Doors and bar open at 1pm. Movie screens at 2pm.
