Connections Matter
Changing Relationships Workshop

Changing Relationships
In this 90-minute on-line dementia workshop we cover the following areas:
- What is dementia? A brief review of current knowledge and understanding of dementias. We also look at language, and how this can affect not only people living with dementias, but our own thinking.
- We look at the role of memory in everyday functioning, for people living with and without dementias, and how it can affect our ability to connect, including explicit, implicit, and body memory.
- And finally, it’s all about being relational-centred, and this means with the right little changes when interacting with a person living with a dementia, it can make a big difference.
Following participation, we hope
- You will have a greater understanding of your own knowledge and how you currently see the condition of dementia.
- With a greater understanding of memory, you will be able to better understand the ‘behaviour’ of people living with advanced dementias.
- You will have more skills and strategies to draw upon in your daily engagement with people living with dementias, and feel better equipped to face various challenges.
There will be time available following the workshop for questions and further discussion for those who wish to stay on-line.
This workshop is suitable for professional staff, as well as people living with dementia &/or family & friends, although we recommend having separate workshops to cater for specific needs. Contact us to arrange a suitable day & time.
