Lindfield Killara Catholic Parish 

Enrolment period 18 March to 8 May   EXTENDED TO Friday 10th MAY

 Dear Parents,

A warm welcome to our preparation programme for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Lindfield Killara Catholic Parish on FRIDAY 21st June 2024. To register please read all the information carefully and fill in all the fields in the forms to follow. 

Book only ONE (1) ticket per family for Confirmation and enter all information for each child separately (even if same).  

Important to note:

1. Choosing a Confirmation Name

Have a good idea of a Confirmation Name for your child before the program begins. This name can be the name given to them at Baptism (if this is a Saint's name) or the name of a suitable canonised Saint from the link below.  The Saint's name should be of relevance to your child: eg Feast day near their birthday, affinity with the Saint's life or cause, their own name, or the name of person special to them.

2. Choosing a Sponsor

The Sponsor must be a practising Catholic, who is a fully-initiated member of the Catholic church (i.e. has completed their Sacraments, being Confirmation, Reconciliation and First Communion) and is over the age of 16. It is desirable that the Godparent at Baptism, if present, also be the Sponsor at Confirmation. A parent cannot be the sponsor. Another adult may 'stand-in' on the day for the Sponsor, e.g. if the Godparent cannot attend.

3. Eligibility - Candidates must be Baptised and be eight years of age or older (Year 3 minimum). Confirmation is celebrated prior to Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

4. Parents Information Evening: Compulsory attendance by one parent/carer (no children)

Wednesday 15th MAY at 7-9pm in the Shirley Wallace Centre above the Lindfield Church

** Please email me a copy of the candidate’s (1) Baptismal Certificate and (2) bring a PHOTO for display in the church.

Please ensure that  your child is enrolled online before this evening.

5. Enrolment - Please enrol and pay online via www.trybooking.com/EPRW  then email me your child's Baptism Certificate on maia@lindfieldkillara.org.au

Group Facilitators: We encourage you to be a facilitator for your group. If your group does not have a facilitator by the parent meeting then one will be nominated/decided on the night. Group facilitators are volunteer parents who can help by leading/facilitating a small group, not ‘teaching’ the lessons. This role can be shared by more than one parent per group. A short briefing about how to facilitate will occur after the parent meeting in St Brigid's Hall.

6. Preparation Lessons: ALL COMPULSORY for the candidate and a parent/carer.

These are held at Parish and School grounds, Highfield Road, Lindfield on:

1. Sunday, 19 May at 4.45pm for Sessions 1; followed by Rite of Enrolment at the 6pm Youth Mass.

2. Sunday 26 May at 4 to 6pm for Sessions 2 and 3; followed by 6pm Youth Mass.

3. Sunday, 2 June at 4.45pm for Session 4, followed by Presentation of the Apostle's Creed at 6pm Mass.

4. Practice will be held on Tuesday 18 June at 3.45pm Killara and 5.15pm Lindfield.

Each week, it is also compulsory to attend the Mass after sessions. Please communicate with Maia if an issue arises.

Please have your child pack a bottle of water and a pencil case for each session.  You may bring a snack if required but this must be consumed during break time and in an outdoor space only.
