Scattered Lives by Sally McKenzie
About
Scattered Lives is a contemporary Australian play by Sally McKenzie which explores the immigrant and refugee experience of who and what is ‘Australian’. Episodic in form, the play charts situations that have brought people to Australia from the late 1950s to the present day. This work, directed by Ms Claire Williams, utilises the conventions of Epic Theatre including, brightly lit sets, actors playing multiple characters and the actors interacting with the audience, all with intention to remove the barrier between audience and the social issue. This highly relevant play features real life accounts of refugee experience including death, drowning, genocide and other heavy themes. It is recommended for students 13+ years of age.Location
