2023 Walyalup (Fremantle) Law Conference
Join The Piddington Society and Fremantle Community Legal Centre for our annual full-day conference at Fremantle Oval.
Across a diverse range of sessions, attendees will hear from emerging and established leaders in the law. Amongst other sessions, the Conference includes two dedicated workshops, one on criminal law and the other on family law, led by senior practitioners in these areas, a keynote address and a panel of retired judicial officers.
Attendees will be eligible for up to 6 CPD points, which are allocated as: 1 point in CA1 (Practice Management), 1.5 points in CA2 (Professional Skills), 1.5 points in CA3 (Ethics and Professional Responsibility and 2 points in CA4 (Substantive Law).
Speakers:
His Honour Judge Henry Jackson SC (Deputy President, State Administrative Tribunal) will deliver the opening keynote address.
The Hon Susan Duncanson (formerly of the Family Court of Western Australia) and his Honour Kevin Sleight (former Chief Judge of the District Court of Western Australia) will reflect on their experiences and share insights from the bench.
Amy Pascoe (Pascoe Legal) will speak on legal costs.
Laura Willox (Timpano Legal) will lead a criminal law workshop.
Rodney Worth (John Toohey Chambers) will lead a family law workshop with:
Karen O'Sullivan (Legal Aid WA) and Rachel Milton (John Toohey Chambers) on undertaking grants of aid.
Toni McAllen (Iola Law) will speak to advising clients on when children are taken into care.
Jennifer Negus (Murray Chambers) will consider when family court proceedings involve criminal law.
