This is a mammoth undertaking for a community theatre company involving endless hours of work by costume workers, set builders, sound and lighting technicians, backstage workers, publicity people, not to mention the huge cast of almost 30 actors. Some actors have been in sword combat training with professional sword trainer, Paul Robertson.
Macbeth was first performed in 1606. It is set in medieval Scotland and partly based on a true historical account.
Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s finest plays, performed endlessly on stage and in film. It tells the story of a Scottish thane who seeks to be king and charts his bloody rise to power and tragic downfall. It highlights a man’s conscience battle and the effect of guilt on his mind. A dark and bloody play, Macbeth explores reality and illusion, witchcraft and the supernatural.
Seating will be cabaret style, so you can BYO food and drink, or purchase refreshments at the licensed canteen. For more information, phone 0498 831 575.
