SYMPHONIES for SUMMER
About
The Ross Arts Festival is proud to present the ever popular Christopher Bearman conducting Camerata Obscura in a concert of Summer Symphonies. The program will include:
Symphony No. 49 in F minor (la passione) by Franz Joseph Haydn.
The Symphony written in the romantic Sturm & Drang style has a theatrical feel, Haydn was probably inspired by a popular comic paly about a waggish Quaker however this is a serious work and a precursor to the romantic movement.
Symphony No. 29 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
In contrast to the Haydn Symphony Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 is a light hearted charming and elegant work written to entertain. It has been described as fiery and impulsive, personal and individual and yet with an intimate chamber music style.
The two symphonies will make a very entertaining contrast in style providing great musical entertainment.
