Beginning the Journey Mentor Workshop
This workshop is for teachers supporting or planning to support teachers new to the profession. The aim is to support you with what you need to know, do and be in the role of a mentor.
In this 2-hour workshop participants will learn what is involved with creating a high quality mentoring program and share good practice in meeting the identified needs of Provisionally Certificated Teachers to help them thrive in their first two years of teaching.

Topics to be covered include:
- Induction and mentoring – how it works
- What makes a good induction and mentoring programme
- What high-quality mentoring looks like
- Developing personalised and collective two-year pathways of learning
- The basics for mentor teachers:
- Building the relationship – get the start right
- Self-reflection and evaluation
- Managing professional discussions – navigating challenging situations
- Required documentation – PCT and mentor
- What counts as evidence?
