Supporting Sensory Processing in Mental Health
About
An in person workshop delivered by a multiply neurodivergent occupational therapist.Aim: To introduce you to sensory processing and how it relates to mental health, giving you some tools for what to look out for, what you can do differently and when to refer on.
We will cover:
- Sensory modulation and mental health
- Sensory processing patterns
- The 8 sensory systems and strategies for each
- What to look out for and how you can support
- Resources and tools
I will use as many practical examples as possible with the aim of you having things you can use in practice.
This is a big and complex area of practice and you are not expected to know everything about sensory processing. This is to give you a base understanding of some things to look for and some ideas for strategies. Future presentations will look at diving deeper into some of these areas.
