If you’ve ever attended a concert and wished the encores would never end, this afternoon’s performance is the one for you. Miniature masterworks for violin and piano by the encore genius Fritz Kreisler rub shoulders with audience favourites, like Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs, Williams’ Theme from Schindler’s List and Kroll’s rollicking Banjo and Fiddle. However, for those craving a little more substance, there will be a Handel violin sonata with organ accompaniment in the first half and Vaughan Williams’ magical The Lark Ascending in its original version with piano in the second half. An afternoon to remember for sure. Violinist Yuka Eguchi, Assistant Concertmaster of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra joins Dr Kemp English,one of New Zealand’s leading concert performers, on piano and organ to present this engagine programme for Music Whakatane.Location
