Kai Carter’s Old Time Hustle - Old Time Appalachian trance meets New Orleans second line rhythm section. Playing traditional material and original compositions on a unique mix of instruments. Expect hypnotic syncopated picking, deconstructed rhythms and enormous honking tuba. Tastefully building on the foundation of old time music with the influence of ragtime, jazz and a dash of techno.Although the band is fresh, the lineup is a cross section of Bristol's finest from the folk and trad jazz music scene. All have been gigging relentlessly and touring the world. After transitioning from guitar to banjo Kai is taking the lead on this project and applying the technical skills learnt from other touring bands to deliver a unique and accomplished performance.
We also have Bill Frampton on tuba, a multi-talented player from Around About Dusk. Mikey Ponsford is on Tenor Guitar from the infamous Flats and Sharps, and Prof. Paul Archibauld on drums from Rob Heron & the Teapad Orchestra.
