Willow Weaving Workshop – Family workshop
About
This is a workshop for the kids after a number of successful adult-focussed workshops. Supported by their adult, children will learn some basic skills and techniques of willow weaving whilst creating a teepee bird house to take home.
Join The Coddiwomplers at our picturesque setting on Deepdale Farm to learn the basics of willow weaving. Emma and Stuart are teachers and basket weavers based in South Norfolk. Stuart has been honing his craft for over 15 years, with Emma joining as apprentice a few years ago. She is now a fully fledged member of the team and together they provide a fun, supportive environment in which to learn the craft of willow weaving. They work with children on a regular basis, so know exactly the level to pitch their workshops at.
Each child must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children to each adult. One ticket required per child. Adults are not required to purchase a ticket, but they will also not have their own bird house to work on, they will just be the support for their child.
Please do not book a ticket for children younger than 7, as they do not have the manuel dexterity required to enjoy and complete the weaving.
Maximum 10 children in each session.
The course is held at Downs Barn, recently modified to allow us to host rural craft courses. Depending on weather, the course will be taught in the open air grass courtyard or under the shelter of the charming barn. Either way the venue will be well ventilated. Please dress suitably for the weather.
An extended adult workshop creating woven flowers is avaiable in the afternoon, and other adult workshops available on 21st September.
No accommodation is included with this course. We would recommend staying at Deepdale Camping & Rooms, which offer excellent self-catering rooms and camping for tents, campervans and motorhomes.
