John J Johnson is a renowned Egyptologist who has delivered popular lecture at numerous major institutions, appeared in documentaries, and was shortlisted for a British Science Fiction Association Award (Best Non-Fiction) in 2014. He has co-edited three volumes on ancient Egypt and is Vice-Chair of the Egypt Exploration Society.This lively, irreverent and affectionate talk examines the fascination we have of the history, mythology and iconography of ancient Egypt, whilst also considering the effect it has had and still wields upon filmmakers from the flickering silents through to present day blockbusters.
