Sixth Form English Extension Programme
Designed and led by Claire Gale, experienced teacher of English at Bishop’s Stortford College, the course will familiarise Year 12 students with a greater understanding of how texts through time are in conversation with one another and with the historical events of the day.*
*Attendees must commit to the full course of sessions.
The sessions hope to promote an appreciation of all texts as artefacts of a given moment. The work during the programme could directly feed into the independent wider work needed for UCAS applications, with the sessions concluding in September 2025.
Students need not necessarily be planning to study English at university. To get the most from the course, pre-reading will be essential, alongside a willingness to contribute ideas in discussion.
