Stargazing at Ampleforth Abbey

Come stargazing at Ampleforth Abbey with expert astronomers Richard Darn and Neill Sanders.
This is an exciting time to be viewing the night skies, with Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus all visible with the naked eye. With the help of a telescope you may see Uranus and Neptune as well.
The evening will begin with an immerse talk on the night sky* and the chance to handle 5 million year old space rocks, and then we'll head outside to discover the wonders visible through super telescopes!
Suitable for space buffs aged 6+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Telescopes provided, but bring binoculars if you have them. Wrap up warm. Hot drink or squash provided.
Held in association with with the Howardian Hills National Landscape and Go Stargazing.
*Due to the layout of the building, the talk will take place in a room which is only accessible via 2 flights of stairs. Please note this event is only suitable for people who are able to navigate stairs.
