A murder is committed at a small hotel, and Miss Glossop is on hand to demonstrate how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusions.

Two couples at adjoining restaurant tables discover an unwelcome connection as their conversations subtly intertwine, facilitated by an observant waiter.
