English Longbow Only Tournament
July 27th 10:45am - 5:00pm
A wonderful opportunity to shoot your longbow at a Non-Records Status - Western Tournament with Wymondham Archers
All about the Traditional English Longbow
If you're up for it then here's a little bit about it.
The Western round falls under the category of an imperial outdoor round. As it's an Imperial round the tradition is that you'll be using the 5-zone scoring system. You'll be shooting 4 dozen arrows shot at 60 yards. Then, after a bite to eat, 4 dozen arrows shot at 50 yards. All distances in a Western round are shot using 48 inch target faces (that's 122cm in metric). We're also going really traditional - English Longbows only with NO Kissers, sight bands or using ground markers etc. Wooden arrows only with feather fletchings.
If enough interest is shown, we'll also put on a purse shoot at the end of the event.
As ever our intention is to provide a fun shoot based on the organisers idea of a traditional longbow competition.
Come and have some fun with Wymondham Archers.
