About
Whether you are new to whisky or a seasoned lover of the stuff this is going to be heaven for you or any fans of the nectar of the gods. The festival is pretty special as you get to meet and sample the wares of some of the best, most sought after Independent bottlers and retailers all under one roof. This years event's principal sponsor is Heroes & Heretics who are helping to make this a truly unmissable festival www.hahcws.com
At this unique festival we get to meet and sample from the likes of Little Brown Dog, Wemyss, Dramfool, Lady of the Glen, Chapter 7, Murray McDavid, Artful Dodger, Thompson Bros, TopWhiskies, Cadenhead's, Sipping Shed, Cooper's Choice, Heroes & Heretics, Mythical Beasts, James Eadie and Whisky Broker.
The event is being arranged through North East Whisky Appreciation Soc (www.facebook.com/groups/NEWAS). If you join the FB group or subscribe to the newsletter (http://eepurl.com/hPIC0r) there will be regular updates not to mention other events and good craic. If you can't make the event in person there will be a vFestival arranged soon after again details will be available soon on the NEWAS group.
We will also get to do this in the wonderful venue that is Tynebank Brewery nr Newcastle's quayside. Its only a metro or bus journey away! The Byker metro station is ~10 mins walk and the Q3 Walker Road bus stop (47) stops directly outside the front door and runs frequently around every 15 minutes from Great Park into town out to Wallsend.
The Tyne Bank Tap Room is housed in a 1400sq ft area within the brewery and includes sixteen taps and eight cask lines of the freshest Tyne Bank beers anywhere and a view directly into the working brewery. It also has an outside area for your dramming delight (weather permitting) and makes for a perfect venue for the festival. The venue does have a lovely menu for food too and can be found here https://www.tynebankbrewery.co.uk/tyne-bank-tap/food-2/
One final thing is our timing could have been better, as the fest is just the day before the Great North Run so many of the hotels are booked or charging far more than normal. Many of the obvious sites seem to already be charging far more than normal but there does seem reasonable options on this site https://www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk/tyne-and-wear/newcastle-upon-tyne/ from as little as £50 for the evening of the 10th Sept at time of writing. There are other options such as Durham or Morpeth are ~15-20 mins by train or B&Bs in the likes of Whitley Bay or South Shields. If you get stuck message the organiser or get on the NEWAS facebook group for advice.
Please note there is a 15p per ticket platform fee which will be added to the cost of the ticket.
Over 21s only (18+ by exception but please contact organiser prior to booking) and the venue and exhibitors will be operating a challenge 25 policy so if you're lucky enough to look younger please bring appropriate ID.
