An Autumn concert of Coleridge-Taylor and Britten (SOLD OUT)
About
The combined forces of the Barnet Symphony Orchestra, Queen's Park Singers and the Royal Free Music Society present a concert of possibly neglected but definitely wonderful music. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor made his reputation with "Hiawatha's Wedding Feast" and the work was described like this: "the music is fresh and original - he has melody and harmony in abundance, and his scoring is brilliant and full of colour - at times luscious, rich and sensual". Who are we to argue! We're also presenting Britten's Violin Concerto which "is a gorgeous piece of music, splendidly written for the soloist and orchestrated with infallible mastery". We'll start with a lovely piece by John Ireland for choir and orchestra. So do come and see whether you agree! We're definitely looking forward to playing this programme.Location
