Dunbar Sings presents The Shanty Man Session with Michael J Warne.A half day singing workshop for all those interested in songs about the sea!
Michael is a performer, director and the resident shanty man of Scottish Heritage Entertainment. He’s also a stage combat specialist, so when he's not singing with pirates, he's fighting them.
‘Growing up on the coast has fostered a deep love of the sea, and through arts, performances, and workshops, I love to engage people in these folky, communal aspects of our history offering an insight into Scotland's nautical past and the sea’s rich musical heritage.’
So come along and learn about the different types of shanties, how they were used and their meanings.
No singing experience necessary, just an enthusiasm to sing louder than the crashing waves and thundering skies!
