Quantz on Tour
About
Laura Piras (flute)
David Wright (harpsichord)
“Quantz is the God of Music”, wrote Crown Prince Frederick in a letter to his sister. Virtuoso flautist, teacher to Frederick as King, composer and writer on music aesthetics, Johann Joachim Quantz was one of the most well-known musicians of the eighteenth century. Laura Piras and David Wright perform music for flute and harpsichord by Quantz, Blavet, Hasse, J.S.Bach and others in an exploration of the influences Quantz experienced while travelling around Europe and the styles of music heard in King Frederick the Great’s court.
(Please note slight change to original programme: J.S. Bach replaces Leclair and C.P.E. Bach)
