TAKE THE FIRST STEP OF YOUR ADOPTION JOURNEY

If you've been thinking about adoption but aren't sure where to start, our regular online Adoption Information Events are the ideal introduction, whether you're new to the idea of adoption or have been researching it for a while.

All our open information events are now held online so you can join us from wherever you are. These events will help you decide if adoption is the right path to becoming a parent for you and if you are ready to start the process. See the foot of this page for the full list of upcoming events and registration links.

Our events last around an hour on Microsoft Teams. Our Cumbria Adoption staff will give an overview of the whole adoption process and the rules and guidance on who can adopt. You will be taken through the assessment and training process and the timescales involved. You will gain an understanding of how we will get to know you and work with you during the process, and information about what ongoing training and support is available to adopters after they have adopted.

We then welcome a guest speaker - a recent adopter who is kind enough to share how the adoption really feels from an adopter's real-life perspective. This can give valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of becoming an adoptive parent.

There will then be the opportunity to ask questions to both Cumbria Adoption and the guest adopter, verbally or in the Teams chat window.

If you want to ‘stay behind’ to ask a private question we are happy to do that, or we can arrange a follow-up phone call or one-to-one Teams meeting. Whatever you feel most comfortable with.
