Ballet Shoes Synopsis
Ballet Shoes, beloved children’s novel by Noel Streatfield set in 1930s London has been adapted as an original play for its debut performance at St Helen and St Katharine School. The plot follows the story of three adopted sisters: Pauline, Petrova, and Posy Fossil. Found by their eccentric Great-Uncle Matthew on his voyages, they are taken to London and raised by his niece. The girls secure places at the Children’s Academy of Dance and Stage Training, where they discover their own unique talents. Pauline, the eldest, excels at acting, whilst Posy, the youngest, is a ballet prodigy. Petrova never quite feels like she fits in at the Academy, preferring overalls to tutus as she aspires to become the first female pilot.
Against the challenges of growing up, overcoming prejudice, and financial struggles, the sisters learn to pursue their dreams and stay grounded in support for one another, knowing that one day, they will put their names in the history books!
