Understanding GDPR: keeping people's data secure
About
Understanding GDPR and Data Protection is essential for anyone who deals with personal information about people. Everyone working in an organisation has a legal responsibility to keep this information secure – and there are financial penalties for not doing so – and yet not everyone is clear on exactly how to do this in practice.
However, It is not complicated once you understand the basics - this session will give you those basics.
In this session you will learn:
• what GDPR involves
• the processes and essential paperwork you need to have in place
• what training your staff and colleagues need for your protection
• how to deal with information about children and vulnerable people
• what steps you need to take to protect yourselves against cybercrime
• how to keep up to date with regulations
You will have the opportunity to raise any specific issues you may have in your organisation.
Anyone dealing with vulnerable people or children or holding medical data has to be especially careful to protect the person they are dealing with and to protect yourselves against problems from non-compliance.
The aim is for you to be able to do you work with confidence in the knowledge you are meeting your obligations in this area.
Presented by Anne Phillips of Barkley Legal based on her many years as a practising solicitor and recently practical experience running a business and navigating and advising on all things data protection.
