Public Lecture: It Matters How We Make Decisions!
About
DAVID REDISH, Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Neuroscience, University of Minnesota (USA) will talk on the subject of "It matters how we make decisions! Implications of the neuroscience of decision making for real-world policies."Neuroscience has made tremendous progress over the last few decades identifying how we make decisions. Professor Redish will argue that this is provides a new microeconomic model that has real-world consequences. In this talk, he will first review what is known about decision-making and the new "neuroeconomic" framework and then present several cases in which that new framework has direct consequences for real-world policy decisions. Lastly, he will provide neuroscientific explanations for behavioral economic phenomena, with policy implications that can create better, more trusting societies, including a new explanation for the success of microfinance institutions.
