Legal structures for allotments & other community food group
About
Mark Simmonds will talk through different legal structures that may be suitable for community based organisations such as allotments and other community food initiatives. This session offers the chance to:
- Consider whether a specific legal structure may be of benefit.
- Learn about the different options for legal structures available to community groups - requirements, pros/cons.
- Draw on the experience of the presenters who have vast experience working with allotments and other community organisations.
- Find out about what funding may be available with different structures.
- Hear from the National Allotment Society about their work and membership.
This event has been arranged following the launch of the Lancaster District Allotment Review Report in June 2024 and takes forward a key recommendation around training and support around governance for allotments. It has been designed with allotments in mind, however much of the information will be useful to others too.
