FestiVOL 2024
About
We're delighted to invite you to FestiVOL 2024, taking place on Thursday 21 November between 9:30am and 4pm at the Lune Valley Methodist Hub in Brookhouse.
Organised by our team at Lancaster District CVS, FestiVOL is where our members and partner organisations celebrate the achievements of the last 12 months, look forward to future success, and share their experiences.
Our sector is incredibly busy providing essential services that improve people's lives, develop communities, and promote social justice. We created FestiVOL to give you the chance to take to some time out to connect, explore fresh thinking, and build new partnerships.
What can I expect on the day?
Keynote speakers, workshops, discussion, networking, good vibes, music from the Lancaster & District Male Voice Choir, laughter and lunch! Don't forget to bring your business cards and information to hand out about your organisation or group, so you can make connections, share your successes and find out what others are doing, right across the Lancaster district.
At recent events you've told us that you really want the chance to spend time together in more relaxed settings. Taking this into account, once the formal part of the day is over, join us from 4pm at The Ship Inn in Caton for the Unique Kidz & Co Pub Quiz, including 10 fast-paced rounds of questions filled with fun, knowledge and friendly competition! Entry is £3 per person and all proceeds will go towards providing afterschool, holiday club and daytime support for disabled children and young adults. Enter as teams of any size, or just come along and join a team on the day, competing for a cash prize for the winning team.
Keynote speakers
We'll be starting the day with keynotes and presentations, headed up by Councillor Abi Mills, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Lancaster. The Music with the Mayor initiative, running throughout the mayoral year, highlights the district's diverse music scene while supporting the vital work of Citizens Advice North Lancashire.
Also joining us to kick FestiVOL off with a dose of inspiration will be representatives of the Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust, NeuroDropIn, and Escape2Make.
Workshops
This year, delegates can attend two of three workshops:
Have a Go & Get Involved
FestiVOL is about celebrating the best of our sector and this year we are giving you the opportunity to have a go at some brilliant activities that are being offered by local projects to local people. We'll be showcasing some excellent examples of innovative ways in which groups engage with their service users - get involved and try something new!
A Regenerative Economy
Discover how Pots of Possibility projects are helping to create a zero-waste, circular and regenerative economy in our district, talk about future initiatives, and help shape a new type of democratic process.
Community Centres & Community Assets
Find out more about the activities and support offered by our district's community centres, village institutes and village halls. Share your experiences of developing, using and benefitting from community centres and other community assets, and build partnerships that could help them grow.
Booking
Booking is essential. Tickets are just £5 (plus platform and card processing fees), which includes lunch and refreshments.
Transport
We strongly encourage everyone attending to make use of public transport. We'll share information about local bus services - which stop just two minutes away from the venue - prior to the event.
Car parking at the venue and on surrounding roads is limited. For those who cannot arrive by public transport, we're encouraging car sharing. After your booking, we'll share information about how to offer or accept a lift.
