In September 1940 the Luftwaffe almost devastated the spitfire factories in Southampton. Production was moved to secret locations in Wiltshire, staffed by the Women of Wiltshire, children and non-combatant men, who built a fleet of spitfires in barns, sheds, bus depots and garages. This is their story.
Karl Howman is best known for his acting roles in Brush Strokes and Eastenders, now an accomplished author of 2 books: Secret Spitfires and A Million Ways to Stay on the Run, that he co-authored with Donal McIntyre.
