Thirlmere Resilience and Temperate Rainforest
About
Walk and Talk - Thirlmere Resilience and Temperate Rainforest
Join Isaac Johnson (John Muir Trust) and Angus Walsh (Cumbria Woodlands) to learn more about an area where temperate rainforest would have once dominated the landscape. The session will look into the efforts to increase native woodland cover, improve biodiversity and improve the water quality in the Thirlmere valley while looking out for temperate rainforest indicator species of moss, fern and lichen.
Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the steps the Thirlmere Resilience Partnership has taken to restore habitat in the south end of Thirlmere.
This event will require walking over rough/wet ground and paths. If you have any questions please get in touch.
Cumbria Woodlands is supporting the Woodland Trust and Plantlife on the #Species Survival Fund Rainforest Restoration Project. The Rainforest Restoration Project is being led by the Woodland Trust in partnership with Plantlife. This project is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
