Hest Bank's Changing Coast
Thursday 23 January 2025 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (UTC+00)
About
Help us tell the story of coastal change at Hest Bank to shape the future of our shoreline. We are looking for history enthusiasts from Hest Bank and the surrounding area to help us find old maps, documents, and photographs which show changes in the saltmarsh, sea level, and the path of the river Keer.
We will use records of past coastal changes, flood events, and human impact to understand how the Hest Bank coastline has formed and how it may change in the future. By joining this project, volunteers will help to inform engineering decisions and play a critical role in shaping the sustainable management of our coastlines.
Join us at our launch event to see what we know so far and find out how you can get involved.
There will be opportunities to contribute from home and for those who can travel to local archives. Costs for travelling to archives will be reimbursed.
Free tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided.
