Smoke Fired Vessel
About
Come to this new workshop to experience the drama of its making process with unpredictable but exciting results. Smoke fired pottery is enhanced and decorated from the smoke of the fire entering the clay as it is fired. You will spend your time constructing your vessel with guidance from Kathryn, before burnishing it to achieve a smooth surface. Kathryn will then take your pieces back to her studio for the initial firing.
At MUDFest, South Cumbria Ceramics Festival, you will have the opportunity to smoke fire your piece during the event either on the Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th May led by our talented ceramicist Martine.
Work will be ready for collection at the end of each day of the festival. If you are not available over that weekend, we can fire it for you on your behalf.
Once booked we can not offer refunds unless we are able to resell your ticket.
Please note that we can’t guarantee how your piece will emerge from the kiln due to the nature of the process.
