Dr Becky Smethurst is an award-winning astrophysicist and science communicator at the University of Oxford, specialising in how galaxies evolve together with their supermassive black holes. Her YouTube channel, Dr Becky, has over 750,000 subscribers who engage with her videos on weird objects in space, the history of science, and monthly recaps of space news. Becky presents The Supermassive Podcast in association with the Royal Astronomical Society and she regularly appears on national television and radio to explain the latest space news stories. Her latest book, A Brief History of Black Holes, has been highly praised, and reached number 27 on Amazon's worldwide book charts on release day. It was at BSGD that Becky discovered her love of all things astronomy, before heading to Durham University to do her MPhys in Physics and Astronomy. She was at School from 1998-2008, along with her sister Megan (2015), with both sisters following in the footsteps of their dad Ian Smethurst (1977).Location
